TATTOO PREP & AFTERCARE
Before Tattoo Care Recommendations
Avoid sun exposure or tanning on the area you plan to tattoo for at least 1 month prior.
Begin applying body lotion to moisturize the area about 20-25 days in advance.
Hydrate your skin from within by drinking plenty of water.
Do not apply body lotion on the day of your tattoo session.
Shave the area thoroughly before your tattoo session, covering a larger area if the tattoo size is not finalized.
Take care not to cut or nick your skin while shaving to ensure a smoother tattooing process.
Do not wax the area; allow a few days for the skin to heal before tattooing.
Avoid aftershave lotions with alcohol, as they can dry out the skin.
Get a good night's sleep before your tattoo session.
Refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs the night before your appointment.
Eat a healthy meal before your session.
For long sessions, bring light snacks that are easy to eat and help maintain your energy.
Notify your artist in advance if you have any injuries in the tattoo area so you can reschedule if needed.
Arrive alone to your session, if possible.
Wear comfortable clothing and avoid tight or restrictive garments over the tattoo area.
Allow sufficient time for your session and avoid rushing, as this can affect the tattoo's outcome.
Avoid scheduling commitments after your session; your body will need time to rest.
Do not take painkillers before or during the session.
Avoid applying numbing creams to the area to be tattooed.
Stay still during the session to ensure the best results.
After Tattoo Care Recommendations
Once tattooed, remove the wrap after 2-3 hours.
Wash the tattoo gently with clean hands, cold water, and a pH-neutral or antiseptic soap. Avoid scrubbing with sponges or similar materials.
Dry the area using absorbent towels, gently patting the skin.
Keep the tattoo uncovered in clean, uncontaminated areas (such as at home).
For the first 4 days, do not apply anything to the tattoo—simply wash it in the morning and evening.
Stay hydrated and maintain a diet rich in protein, vegetables, and healthy fats. Your tattoo will thank you!
After 4 days, apply Lubriderm cream 3 times a day for 20 days.
Always keep the tattoo moisturized—do not let it dry out. However, avoid overhydrating the skin.
If the tattoo will be in contact with tight clothing or underwear, protect it with an absorbent towel to prevent damage from friction until the skin regenerates (about 5-6 days).
Around day 4 or 5, the tattoo may start to peel and develop a fine layer of new skin. This is normal. Do not pick at the scabs or scratch the area.
Do not apply hydrogen peroxide, Betadine, or similar products to the tattoo.
Avoid applying cologne, makeup, or wet wipes over the tattoo while it heals.
Do not expose the tattoo to sunlight for the first month.
Avoid swimming in pools or the ocean for the first month.
Do not wear clothing that sheds lint onto the tattoo while it is healing.
Avoid greasy or spicy foods for 7 days.
If you have pets, keep the tattoo away from direct contact with them or their items (leashes, toys, collars). Use sensiwrap over the tattoo after washing it during the first 4 days.
Once the tattoo has fully healed, continue caring for it with Lubriderm cream (blue cap) and apply sunscreen hourly when at the beach.
